This trip starts in Hanoi and finishes in Bangkok. On day one, please arrive at your Joining Hotel in time for the Welcome Meeting at 5.00 pm. If you would like to book an Airport Arrival Transfer, please contact our team or get in touch with the Tour Operator directly in advance of your tour.

This trip is a great opportunity to make new friends as a solo traveller. This trip is designed for shared accommodation and does not include a single supplement for solo travellers. Single travellers joining group trips are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip.

Solo travellers who do not wish to stay in the shared accommodation option for this trip also have the choice to book the "My Own Room" option for this tour. If you book this option, you will receive your own single accommodation for all nights, with the exception of the Overnight Train on nights 3, 9, and 12.

This is an immersive, social, wallet-friendly adventure where epic hostels are your home base. The age bracket for this tour is 18 to 35 years old. Travellers shouldn’t expect anything too physically demanding on this trip. At most, this tour includes light walking and hiking suitable for most fitness levels.

All countries on this tour require international travellers to have a valid passport (with a minimum of 6 months validity).

Contact your local embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date visa requirements, or see your travel agent. It is your own responsibility to have the correct travel documentation. Visa requirements for your trip will vary depending on where you are from and where you are going.

Thailand:

Most nationalities do not need a visa for Thailand for stays of 30 days or less but if you do they are available on arrival at Bangkok Airport. If staying in Thailand for more than 30 days, you will be required to obtain a tourist visa in advance. Only 15-day tourist visas are issued when entering Thailand overland.

Vietnam:

When you are checking in for your flight to Vietnam, you will likely be asked by airline ticket counter personnel to provide proof of exit from Vietnam. It is your own responsibility to have these documents ready (see terms and conditions for more information), along with any other travel documentation you require. Contact your local embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date visa requirements, or see your travel agent.

If you require a visa for Vietnam, this must be arranged BEFORE your trip. The processing time for these visas varies (minimum 2 weeks) and they are not available after your tour has commenced.

Cambodia:

Visas can be obtained in advance from your local embassy or on arrival in Bangkok (if your tour begins in Thailand). You will need at least one full working day to arrange this. You can also obtain your visa at the Cambodian border or Siem Reap Airport for approx. 30 USD. Please have *at least* 2 passport photos with you as well.

Yes, travel insurance is compulsory on this trip. You must have travel insurance with a minimum medical, evacuation, and repatriation coverage of $200,000 (USD).

Every traveller is different and therefore spending money requirements will vary. Some travellers may drink more than others while other travellers like to purchase more souvenirs than most. Please consider your own spending habits when it comes to allowing for drinks, shopping and tipping. We suggest budgeting around USD 215-280 for meals not included.

During this tour, the local currency you will use is the Vietnamese Dong, US Dollar, Cambodian Riel, and Thai Baht. As currency exchange rates in Southeast Asia do fluctuate, we ask that you refer to www.xe.com for the most up-to-date daily exchange rates.

Please make sure you have access to at least an additional USD 200 (or equivalent) as an 'emergency' fund, to be used when circumstances outside our control (ex. a natural disaster) require a change to our planned route. This is a rare occurrence!

It is customary in Asia to tip service providers such as waiters, at approximately 10%, depending on the service. Tipping is expected - though not compulsory - and shows an expression of satisfaction with the people who have assisted you on your tour. Although it may not be customary to you, it is of considerable significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels.

Recommendations for tipping drivers and local guides would range from $1.5-$3.5 USD per person per day depending on the quality and length of the service; ask your CEO for specific recommendations based on the circumstances and culture.

Also at the end of each trip, if you felt your G Adventures CEO did an outstanding job, tipping is appreciated. The amount is entirely a personal preference, however as a guideline $20-25 USD per person, per week can be used.

Please be aware that there are nights scheduled for overnight train travel during your tour. To enhance your comfort and convenience, we highly recommend travelling with a backpack and packing light! 15-20 kgs of stuff should be plenty.

Suitcases are not recommended for G Adventures trips! Most travellers carry a backpack or rolling bag of small to medium size (no XXL ones please!) as they need to fit under the beds when travelling on sleeper trains.

You will also need a day pack/bag to carry water, cameras, and other electronics like iPods and mobile phones. If your trip involves overnights in homestays, villages, or camping then you usually have the opportunity to rent sleeping bags if need be instead of bringing them with you.

Hostels (21 nights) and overnight sleeper train (3 nights).

The hostels will be primarily multi-share (typically 6-8 people per room), with a choice of mixed-gender and female-only dorms as well as available upgrades to twin-share rooms (same gender). Single rooms are available for solo travellers if desired.

Some rooming exceptions may apply due to the unique nature of the itineraries and of the hostels themselves, which have been specifically chosen to give local flavour to your trip.

If you have an existing medical condition, disability, or any special requirements that may affect your trip or how the Operator delivers your experience, please disclose these in writing at the time of booking. You may be asked to obtain a medical certificate.

Certain activities may be inaccessible to you if your mobility is limited in any way. All food allergies and dietary restrictions must be disclosed to the Tour Operator at the time of booking. The Tour Operator cannot guarantee that dietary needs or restrictions can be accommodated.

The Tour Operator will use reasonable efforts to accommodate special requirements or requests. However, this is not always possible given the nature of the destinations visited and the availability of options outside a planned itinerary. If the Tour Operator reasonably feels they cannot accommodate your particular needs, they reserve the right to decline your booking.

While travelling on this tour, you'll experience a vast array of wonderful food. Your group leader will be able to suggest restaurants to try during your trip. To give you maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat, only some meals are included in this tour price.

This also gives you more budgeting flexibility. As a rule, groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. If you have dietary requirements and/or food allergies, please let the Tour Operator know at the time of booking or prior to departure.
